GREENVILLE, S.C. (September 24, 2026) – The editors of SCBIZ have named Greenville DUI attorney Scott Todd a 2026 Emerging Leader Under 40. Todd is the principal of Sumner & Todd, Attorneys at Law. He is one of only five attorneys on this year’s list. He is also one of just three who practice in Upstate South Carolina.
The Emerging Leaders Under 40 program used to be called Forty Under 40. It honors South Carolina leaders under 40 for their work and their community service. Todd grew up in Laurens, S.C. He graduated from Presbyterian College and the University of South Carolina School of Law. In law school, he won the CALI Award for Criminal Law and served on the Mock Trial Team.
Before private practice, he was an Assistant Solicitor in the Seventh and Thirteenth Judicial Circuits. Most of the cases he tried there were DUI cases. He joined Steve Sumner in 2020 and became a partner in 2021. He took over the firm in 2026 after Steve’s passing.
The honor adds to a growing list of awards for Todd. Super Lawyers has named him to its South Carolina “Rising Stars” list for three years in a row. Greenville Business Magazine named him to its “Best & Brightest Under 35” list. He also serves on the board of Main Street Laurens.
