Originally founded by Steve Sumner, Sumner & Todd built its reputation on a strong belief in justice and decades of experience defending clients throughout South Carolina. Steve was the Upstate’s only Super Lawyer™ dedicated to DUI defense and was named the 2019 “Lawyer of the Year” for DUI defense in the Upstate.

Steve’s reputation was built not only on accolades, but on results. Over the course of his career, he served more than 5,000 clients and handled over 500 jury trials, achieving positive outcomes for clients month after month.

Today, Scott Todd proudly carries on the legacy Steve established. Since joining the firm in 2020 and becoming partner in 2021, Scott has continued the firm’s commitment to aggressive advocacy, personalized representation, and exceptional DUI defense.
